Chitwan National Park is one of the most incredible places to visit in Nepal. Unlike the mountain areas, Chitwan is situated in the Terai area is one of the last homes for the Royal Bengal Tiger.
The endangered species that live in Chitwan National Park are a success story. Such species as the Royal Bengal Tiger, the One-Horned Indian Rhinoceros and the Gharial Crocodile are all making a good comeback with their numbers showing significant increases. Chitwan National Park, along with Bardia and Banke National Parks in Nepal provide a healthy environment for the animals to thrive.
Chitwan features over 160 varieties of birds, plus all kinds of wildlife. It is still a place where there are wild elephant herds. You can go on an elephant safari, take a jungle walk or a trip by dug-out canoe on the Rapti River to see crocodiles and birds.
