Overview - Buddhist Temple Tour in Thailand

Buddhism is the state religion of Thailand. Bangkok has some of the sacred and attractive Buddhist sites in the world. Buddhist Temple tour in Thailand offers you a rare chance to explore and learn about Thai Buddhism.

This tour will take you to the Grand Palace to see the golden statues and Wat Phra Kaew aka or the Temple of Emerald Buddha, the most sacred Buddha in Thailand. You will explore the famous Wat Pho temple and be amazed by the golden statue of Reclining Buddha, again the largest statue of reclining Buddha in the world. The sightseeing continues with visit to Wat Arun or the Temple of the Dawn, Lumbini Park and the Golden Buddha Temple.  The Golden Buddha Temple has the largest solid gold Buddha statue in the world.

The tour ends with a side trip to Chatuchak Weekend Market, Jim Thompson House, Bangkok Art and Culture Center and Khao San Road.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Bangkok

On your arrival at Suvarnabhumi (or Don Mueang) Airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Relax and take an overnight rest.

Day 2: Full day sightseeing tour of Buddhist temples in Bangkok

Early morning after breakfast, you will be picked up by your tour guide for a full day sightseeing program. You will visit The Grand Palace to see the golden statues followed by Wat Phra Kaew aka or the Temple of Emerald Buddha. The Emerald Buddha is made up of Jade and is regarded as the most sacred Buddha in Thailand.

After lunch continue your tour by visiting the famous Wat Pho temple. The temple houses the golden statue of Reclining Buddha, which is 46 metres (150 feet) long and 15 metres (49 feet) tall. This makes this the largest statue of the reclining Buddha in the world. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 2: Second day of sightseeing

This is your second day of sightseeing at Buddhist temples in Bangkok. Today you will visit the popular Wat Arun or the Temple of the Dawn. Afterwards walk to Lumbini Park which is named after Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, in Nepal. This park is full of greenery overlooking a peaceful lake which is a welcome respite from the chaos of the city.

Following lunch, visit Wat Traimit or the Golden Buddha Temple. The temple features the largest solid gold Buddha statue in the world! The statue is located on the third floor of the four-storeyed temple.

Day 3: Third day of sightseeing

Today you will use the day to make side trips to some of the famous markets and sites in Bangkok. Start off by exploring Chatuchak Weekend Market which trades in a range of things at cheap prices. Next is Jim Thompson House which offers great insight into Thai architecture and art which are heavily influenced by Buddhism. Don’t miss out on the Bangkok Art and Culture Center to explore contemporary art exhibits or cultural events in Bangkok.

In the afternoon stroll down to Khao San Road which is full of souvenir shops and street Thai food stalls.

Day 4: Final Departure

According to your flight timing, we will transfer you to Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang Airport for final departure.
