Magical Leh Ladakh tour with Pangong Tso Lake is one of our more popular tour programs in Ladakh. It features visiting major Buddhist monasteries, trekking in Nubra valley over a high Himalayan pass, and exploring Pangong Tso Lake.
As part of sightseeing in Leh, you will visit the famous Hemis Monastery and Thiksey Monastery along with Shey palace. Learn about the history of Buddhism in Ladakh and interact with monks. Thereafter visit Nubra Valley which involves crossing Khardungla pass (5602m), which offers splendid views of Karakoram and Ladakh Himalayan ranges.
The central attraction of this tour is the exploration of Pangong Tso Lake. Pangong Tso Lake is spread in a total area of 604 sq.km and is the source of the Indus River. About 60% of the lake lies in Tibet province of China while the rest is in Ladakh. This saline lake is inhabited by ducks, gulls, marmot, and goose.

This is a day you will spend touring the sites around Leh. Start off by visiting Hemis and Thiksey monasteries. Built in 1672, Hemis is probably the most famous Buddhist monastery in Leh. TThis 17th century monastery practices Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism and every year hosts Hemis festival honoring Padmasambhava. Thiksey Monastery is also as old as Hemis and houses hundreds of learning monks. Once used as a summer residence by royals of Ladakh, the 17th century Shey Palace is an attractive site to visit.
After breakfast drive to Nubra valley which takes about 5 hrs. On the way you will cross over the highest Himalayan pass called Khardungla pass (5602m). The pass offers magnificent views of snow covered peaks of Karakoram and Ladakh ranges. You will know you have reached Nubra valley when you spot massive sand dunes along with beautiful Hunder and Diskit monasteries. Camel rides are available in Hunder if you want to enjoy it. In fact Hunder was once the silk trading route. Diskit monastery has one of the biggest statues of Buddha in Ladakh. Overnight camping.
Get ready for a morning drive to Pangong Tso lake. The journey takes about 5 hrs and passes through Shyok village. In no time you will approach the Changla Pass (5486m). The surrounding area in Pangong Lake is blessed with greenery and a variety of flora and fauna. This saltwater lake is divided between India and China. Overnight in camp.
Today after morning breakfast you will prepare to drive back to Leh. The journey takes about 5 hrs and covers around 170km. By late afternoon you will be in Leh where you can refresh and rest. In the evening, you can stroll the local market and shop for souvenirs. Overnight in a hotel.
Depending on your flight schedule, our office representative will transfer you to the airport for your final departure.
